“What’s that stuff in the bed?”
-“You mean the bed liner?”
“Yeah, looks good, can I get that on the entire truck?”
-“* Ka-ching* Ehm, yeah sure, that’s in our super premium elite off-road package, just $3000 extra.”
That’s how I imagine a sales conversation would go to get this. Then again, I’m not in truck country, so perhaps this is more common than I am imagining.
Also, it’s officially autumn now and for a short glorious time my car will look amazing with all the yellow golden trees around;

I’ve seen a couple of full size fords, like F350 and a few Jeep Wrangler’s coated in bed liner. IMHO it looks like poop. You also can’t really clean it. It will oxidize over time a look even poopier.

My brother did that to his truck. I did not like it, but he seemed to.

Pretty common for serious offroad rigs, some Brodozers try to steal the look. The serious off road guys do it because they know they are goi

to scratch
the hell out of their rigs.

Roll on DIY Berliner is a cheap way to fend off rust on an older truck like that. There also a Chevy Impala in my town coated in it and painted army green. Can’t explain that one

Line-X have been doing it for a while.

Not sure I’ve seen a full coating like that , but I have seen bedliner applied to other areas that were going to take some abuse.

It’s not UNcommon across Utah, Montana, Idaho... mountain west.
I’d do it on an older truck, in a heartbeat, if I was considering a re-spray. Is so resilient— and I’ll never worry about paint again. Or, door dings.
CAUTION: It’s much heavier than you think it is.

A customer that came into work had his Hilux Roof and topper done in it. It did help when we loaded roof sheets on top and strapped them down.

Yeah, this feels more towards the brodozer side as there’s not much of an offroad culture here. There’s very rural areas for sure, that can get muddy and need a 4x4, but no real trails or anything that would mess up your paint besides a layer of caked on mud...

I have a feeling it was done because “looks cool”. Not going to judge too much , just hadn’t seen it before either.

Actually, I may have done this to my Jeep Wrangler, if I really knew about the affects of salt. Of course, I know, salt accelerates rust, but Vermont salt is sprayed on the road as a liquid solution. As you drive, you can hear it spraying up under the chassis . After living in Vermont for about 5 years, the Jeep was so rusted, it could not be saved. This would have prolonged its life.

I used bedliner to paint the leaking roof of an old small shed in my yard.
Worked awesome, no more leaks , and it’s lasted for years. And it was cheaper and faster than redoing the shingles.
That stuff has super nasty fumes though, had to wear an organic vapor mask even working outside with it.

Bed liner patina!
